UI animations
Animation is a fantastic tool for improving a user's experience when applied directly to UI: drawing the eye, reinforcing mental models of space, alleviating wait times and expressing personality.
As an example, below is user education element which needs to attract the user's interest without being overpowering or abrasive. My deliverables for this "coach mark" included video studies, behavior instructions, animation "redline" tables, and CSS animations (for performance).
Illustrative motion graphics
Often used in first-run experiences, user education, and marketing materials- this type of work leans into the delightful qualities of animation. I've delivered animations like this in the format of Gifs, CSS, bodymovin, and videos.
Vision and communication
Animation is a great tool for aiding the UX design process, especially for flows where an interactive prototype is far more labor intensive ( such as with 3D or VR projects ).
